PREVIOUS PROJECTS: Been working on a little movie project for early 2011.
FIRST OFF, WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO ABOUT YOUR NAME?
It's pretty weird, it sounds like Louique.
TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT MARCO GIORGI?
Marco comes from a little town in Uruguay called La Paloma. People there really admire and respect him for being the first to compete on the WQS and it's really cool to see how they treat him there. He is a really humble kid and has a long road in front of him.
HOW DID A BRAZILIAN FILMER AND URUGUAYAN SURFER GET HOOKED UP?
We met last year in Spain during a contest, and when Marco moved Brasil, really close to where I live, we became good friends and decided to film for this project.
WHERE’S BETTER WAVES: BRAZIL OR URUGUAY?
They both have so many good waves. I reckon Uruguay has some world class pointbreaks. But for me there is no place like home.
WILL YOUR SECTION BE GIVING US A LITTLE TASTE OF URUGUAY?
A little, but it won't make justice to the quality of the waves that place has. We only went there for a couple of days and the waves didn't really show up. Maybe the next time...
WHAT ABOUT YOUR OTHER ENTRY, CRISTIAN MULLER — WHO IS HE?
Cristian Muller just turned 17 years old. And different from a lot of grommets, he doesn't see himself as a professional surfer. He is a student, who likes to go to the water every once in a while. He lives in a small island called Florianopolis in South Brazil, same place as me. The kid is really natural on the water, creative and always looks foward to evolve his aerial surfing. We didn't had the time or the budget to do any trips, we only filmed some days in front of his house and a couple of other spots. His section won't make justice to his surfing. And I hate having to say that.
WHAT'S THE MAIN DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THESE TWO GUYS?
The difference of their approach on the water is gigantic. They both have completely different views of the wave. Cristian looks for the airs, and tries to invent. He's really good in the barrel too, but as I said, we only filmed shitty waves in front of his house...really shitty waves. Marco is more of a complete surfer. He mixes a lot of power with airs and progressive moves. Marco is a competitor, Cristian is a freesurfer.
IF CHRISIAN & MARCO WERE BOTH IN A BURNING BUILDING AND YOU COULD ONLY SAVE ONE...WHO WOULD IT BE?
Ha ha, who you rather: your mom or your dad? Ranking them, in contest criteria, Marco would win easily, 'cause he is a complete surfer. But that doesn't mean one is better than the other. They each know what they want in surfing, and make the best of themselves at it.
HOW DO YOU THINK MARCO’S SURFING STANDS UP AGAINST BIG-NAME WCT SURFERS?
That's a delicate question. I don't really look at how it stands up against the others, but how he stands up to himself. He tries to explore every part of his surfing...barrels, power turns and airs. I think he has a lot to show to the surf world.
DID YOU PAY ATTENTION TO PREVIOUS ROUNDS?
Oh yes.
SO WHAT WERE YOUR FAVORITE SECTIONS?
Pete Devries, Nate Tyler, Mikala Jones, Michellangelo Bernadoni, Josh Kerr, Ozzie Wright, John John...and many others.
WAS THERE A SECTION IN THE EARLY ROUNDS YOU THOUGHT GOT ROBBED?
I don't think so. I'm actually surprised with the voting process. At first I wasn't sure it would work, 'cause is so easy to cheat with Internet. But you guys and the people at home managed to keep it clean.
DO YOU THINK IT’S HARDER FOR UNKNOWN SURFERS TO COMPETE ON INNERSECTION?
No. Some guys have already proven that it can be done. And that's the whole point of Innersection, to treat all surfers equally, giving the same opportunity to everyone. But of course there is a difference. The unknown surfers have only this chance to conquer the admiration of the public, as the big names have been doing this for a long time in movies and contests.
WELL SAID. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THAT NEW, BRAZILIAN SUPER-GROM GABRIEL MEDINA? HAVE YOU SEEN HIM SURF?
He's so good. Has a lot of talent and have been improving his surfing a lot lately. We have been filming for the film project I mentioned earlier and we've already got some crazy clips. Kid rips.

Nothing intentionally. I'll just show who Marco is, in and out of the water. If it stands out, it's because people related to him and his approach on the ocean.

Christian Fletcher - "A World You Can't Imagine"
It´s an honor to present this video featuring Christian Fletcher, one of the big influences in air surfing. In my opinion, no man had made such impact as him on the surf scene in the 80´s, I was a kid, and it was a huge blast for me, and he´s sill ripping these days.
